Announcing Pioneer Trains!

Welcome to Pioneer Trains, a premiere N scale retailer!

Pioneer Trains was founded by Peter Amling. Our goal is to expand the N scale landscape by commissioning hard to find and never before produced locmotives and rolling stock in N scale. Our primary focus is transition era passenger trains and that will expand in the coming years.

The idea behind Pioneer Trains was inspired by other dedicated N scalers who have made their own dreams a reality.

Launching Pioneer Trains came out of a few conversations in 2023. We incorporated and launched our website in 2024. In January 2025 we have launched  our first two models, the Gulf Mobile & Ohio (GM&O) E7s, and Erie Railroad E8s, both produced by Broadway Limited.

The name Pioneer Trains comes from the first steam locomotive purchased by the Chicago & North Western Railway back in 1848. The locomotive was named the Pioneer. It also served as the first locomotive on the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy railroad. You read more about it here.
